Shudu Lake (Shuoduhai Shudu Lake)
Shudu Lake is 43 km northeast of the
city of Zhongdian (Shangri-la). The lake is 3705 meters (12,155
feet) above sea level and is one of the largest lakes in Diqing
Prefecture. The lake water is so clear and still that people
can see the golden line along the stomach of the cracked-stomach
fish residing in its waters. Shudu Lake is a famous pasture
in Diqing. Every spring and summer herds of yak and goat are
found grazing along side the lake. |
