Tour Itinerary

Day 01 Arrival - Beijing
Upon your arrival in Beijing, you will be greeted by our English-speaking guide at the exit of the Beijing airport. Be transferred to your hotel.
Day 02

Beijing (Breakfast + Lunch)
In the morning, walk through the Tiananmen Square and take photos, then visit the palatial Forbidden City. Have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, tour to the Temple of Heaven. Drive back to your hotel. Optional program in the evening: Peking Opera, Kungfu Show or Chinese Acrobatics.

Forbidden City: The imperial palace for the 24 emperors of Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). Construction of the palace began in 1406 and was completed in 1420 during the reign of Ming Dynasty emperor Yongle. Enclosed behind its moat and 9.9-meter-high walls are 980 buildings, vast courtyards and long corridors that occupy a total area of 720,000 square meters.
Temple of Heaven: Occupying 2,668 hectares, it is the largest extant sacrificial temple in China. Construction of the Temple of Heaven was begun in 1406 during the reign of the Ming Dynasty Emperor Yongle. It took 14 years to complete. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was the site of imperial sacrifices to Heaven.

Day 03

Beijing (Breakfast + Lunch)
Today we will have an excursion to the Mutianyu Great Wall, the Sacred Way and the Ming Tombs. On the way back to downtown, have a brief outside visit of the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium) and the Water Cube (National Aquatics).

Mutianyu Great Wall: Located 73 kilometers from Beijing, this well-preserved section joins the Juyongguan Pass in the west and Gubeikou Great Wall in the east. It was built about 1,400 years ago and reconstructed later during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Mutianyu boasts breathtaking beautiful scenery in four seasons with comparatively less tourist.

Day 04 Beijing - Kunming (Breakfast + Lunch)
After breakfast, explore the Summer Palace. Take a Hutong tour, passing Shichahai, Yinding Bridge, Yandaixiejie, Drum tower or Bell tower, feel the original old Beijing Culture. Drive to Beijing airport and fly to Kunming. Your local guide will pick you up at Kunming airport and transfer you to the hotel.

Summer Palace: Occupying a total area of 290 hectares, it is one of the finest examples garden architecture in China. The traditional architectures in the park include pavilions, pagodas, temples, terraces, waterside gazebos, stone bridges, covered corridors and marble boat. The history of the Summer Palace dates back some 800 years, three quarters of it is made up of shallow lakes.
Day 05 Kunming (Breakfast + Lunch)
Drive to Lunan County which takes 2 hours and explore the Stone Forest. Return to Kunming in the afternoon.

Stone Forest: Located about 86 km away from Kunming, it is a world of innumerable bizarre shaped stone peaks and cliffs created by water erosion some 270 million years ago. Stone Forest is a typical example of karsts topography covering an area of 400 square kilometers and including both large and small forest as well as many other scenic spots.
Day 06 Kunming - Dali (Breakfast + Lunch)
Today you will be transferred to Kunming airport for your flight to Dali. Upon arrival in Dali, you will be met by our local tour guide. Have a cruise in the Erhai Lake which is dotted with many white sails, then learn the Bai people's traditional technique of making Tie-dyeing Cloth with Wax in a local handcraft manufactory. After That, explore Xizhou Township where the local residents are mostly ethnic Bai People. Here you can see the distinctive folk house complex with traditional architecture courtyard. Finally, pay a visit to the Three Pagodas in the Chong Sheng Temple and explore Dali Ancient City.

Erhai Lake: The lake is situated at an altitude of 1,972 meters above sea level. It is 42 kilometers from north to south and 3 to 9 kilometers from east to west, covering an area of 250 square kilometers. The whole region is full of interesting and beautiful sites. Visitors come to lakeshore to camp, ride horses, ride bikes and hike. You can experience culture of ethnic Bai People in this area as well. The ancient city of Dali and the other historic sites lie to the west of Erhai Lake.
Three pagodas: These pagodas are suited in the Chongsheng Temple at the foot of the Cangshan Mountain. It is just one kilometer to the northwest of the ancient city of Dali. The Three Pagodas are famous in Yunnan even in China, because of their size, beauty, and antiquity, and for their preservation. The central one is more than 1,100 years old and is one of the tallest pagodas ever built in China. The main pagoda looks like a typical Tang Dynasty pagoda. The other two pagodas were built about 100 years later by rulers of the Dali Kingdom that succeeded the Nanzhao Kingdom.
Day 07 Dali - Lijiang (Breakfast + Lunch)
Drive to Lijiang. On the way stop at Xinhua village where the Bai Ethnic People are famous for making silver articles. Arrive Lijiang, visit Sifangjie Street in Dayan Old Town.

Lijiang Old Town: Built in the late Song dynasty (960-1279 A.D.) and the early Yuan dynasty (1206-1368 A.D.), Lijiang is a Historical and Cultural Heritage in China and it has been included in the World Cultural Heritage. Lijiang is also the center of the Naxi people, a relatively small minority group with a rich culture.
Day 08 Lijiang (Breakfast + Lunch)
Visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Baisha Fresco, Ancient Shuhe Village of Naxi people. In the afternoon, explore Lijiang Ancient Town.

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain: The mountain is a located 15 kilometers north of Lijiang, It is the southernmost mountain with snow-capped all year round in the Northern Hemisphere. Shanzidou, the main peak at 5,569 meters above sea level, looks like a gigantic dragon clad in white snow all year round. There are over 6,500 different kinds of plants on the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, including 400 types of trees in 20 primeval forest communities.
Baisha Mural: Drew in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), it stores 44 pieces of murals in total, specializing in the religious stories. They are quite different from other frescos. Each painting includes at least one hundred portraits, but perspective is used very well, and the close, middle and establishing images are clear. The earliest one is in the Glazed Hall. It was painted before 1417. In the period, the religious painting in Central Plain of China had gone downgrade. In the Tang and Song dynasties, Taoism was popular. The famous painter all liked making religious paintings.

Day 09 Lijiang - Shangri-la (Zhongdian) (Breakfast + Lunch)
Drive 180Km to Shangri-la. On the way, visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge and the First bend of the Yangtze River.

The First Bend of the Yangtze River: Yangtze River flows from the glaciers on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau eastward across southwest, central and eastern China before emptying into sea at Shanghai. About 44 miles outside of Lijiang, unusual geological phenomenon forces the Yangtze to make a sudden V-shaped bend and flow to the northeast. The area at the river's bend features wide flow of water, green river water and green willows on both sides of the river. It is the best place to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
Tiger-Leaping Gorge: The gorge is located on the way from Lijiang to Shangri-La, lying between Haba Snow Mountain and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It is one of the deepest canyons of the world, famous for its majesty and grotesquery. At the narrowest spot the river is only 30 meters wide. The mouth of the gorge is 1,800 meters above sea level. The river is flanked by Yulong and Haba snow mountains, with a height difference of 3,900 meters. It is an ideal place for those who love hiking. There are three routes for hiking. One can start from Hutiaoxia Town along the river to Daju in Lijiang County, or go upstream from Daju. The third route sets out from Hutiaoxia Town to Hetaoyuan and is 28 km in length.
Day 10 Shangri-la (Breakfast + Lunch)
Visit Songzanlin Lamasery, the Potatso National Park (including Shudu Lake, Bita Lake and Xiaji Resort.)

Shudu Lake: Located about 43 kilometers northeast of Zhongdian, Shudu Lake is the largest lake in Diqing Prefecture. ˇ°Shuduˇ± in Tibetan means ˇ°cheese and stonesˇ±. The lake abounds in unique species of fish, with double lips and a golden color. There are dense forests of fir spruce and birch around the lake. They are filled with wild animals such as musk deer, bears, leopards, golden cats, and pheasants etc. Now the Shudu Lake is constructed into a high-land pasture resort, enjoying a very convenient transportation for traveling.
Bitahai Lake: Covering an area of 390 acres, it is one of the highlights in Potatso National Park. The lake is surrounded by dense forest which is scattered with azaleas. Bitahai Lake is very limpid and abundant in fish resources. There is a small wooded island in the center of the lake. Visitors can take a boat to go ashore the island
Songzanlin Lamasery: Originally built in 1679, it is a massive typical Lama monastery with traditional Tibetan architectural style. The roofs of the temple are gilded copper, making the whole complex look much grand and magnificent. There are more than 700 Tibetan Buddhist monks living in the temple; and it houses many precious art works accumulated from the past dynasties.
Day 11 Shangri-la - Lhasa (Breakfast + Lunch)
You will be transferred to airport and take flight to Lhasa. Upon your arrival at Gonggar Airport, our Tibetan local guide and driver will pick you up, then help you to check in your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to adapt to the high altitude.

Travel Tips
Start taking anti-AMS medicines a week before your trip. If you have a good rest in your room on the arrival day, you will have less chance of getting mountain sickness. Aviod catching a cold. And a first aid kit including aspirin, antibiotics and AMS medication is highly recommended.
Day 12 Lhasa (Breakfast + Lunch)
Visit the splendid Potala Palace, then explore the Jokhang Temple. After lunch, have a stroll over the Barkhor street.

Potala Palace: It was begun in 641, by Songtsan Gambo who was the ruler of Tibet's Tubo Kingdom. The palace that we see today had finally been completed in 1645. Potala Palace is made of stone and wood and consists of the White Palace and Red Palace. The palace is where The Dalai Lamas live and hold political and religious activities. In 1994, it was listed as a world natural and cultural heritage site.
Jokhang Temple: Constructed by King Songtsan Gambo in 647AD and was expanded to its present scale in the 17th century. It is the spiritual center and the oldest temple in Tibet. It was built in the architecture typical of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and has Nepalese and Indian characteristics. Jokhang Temple houses many other culture relics. The monument recording the alliance between Tibet and China still stands in front of the temple.

Barkhor street: Located in the old area of Lhasa City, Barkhor Street is a very old and flourishing street surrounding the Jokhang Temple. The street has a history of over 1,300 years, along the street are stores and groceries selling Tibetan and Nepal handicrafts or souvenirs. It is also the main route for prayer wheels rotating.
Day 13 Lhasa (Breakfast + Lunch)
Visit Tibetan Carpet Factory and Norbulingka. After lunch, tour to Sera Monastery.

Norbulingka: Covering an area of 360,000 square meters, it means "Jewelled Park" in Tibetan. Construction began in the 1740s, it was built by the 7th Dalai Lama and served both as administrative and religious center. Norbulingka is a representation of Tibetan palace architecture. It was the summer palace of the successive Dalai Lamas from the 1780s until the late 1950s.
Sera Monastery: One of the three great monasteries of Tibet. Covering an area of 115,000 square meters, the monastery is magnificent. Construction of the monastery bagan in 1419. It is one of the six main monasteries of the Gelugpa of the Tibetan Buddhism. Lamas usually have debates from 3 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
Day 14 Lhasa - Shanghai (Breakfast + Lunch)
After breakfast, transfer to airport to catch the flight for Shanghai. Visit Yuyuan Garden. After that, explore the nearby Chenghuangmiao Old Street. Take a walk at The Bund and Nanjing Road.

Yuyuan Garden: The most notable classic garden in Shanghai. The garden was finished in 1577 of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). In 1956, a large-scale rehabilitation or restoration was done. In 1982, it was ranked as the key protection of national historic sites. Yuyuan Garden is famous for its pure Chinese-style layout and architecture. There are many wood and brick sculptures, stone inscriptions, valuable old paintings and calligraphy masterworks scattered around the garden.
Day 15 Shanghai (Breakfast)
Enjoy a leisure walk along the Bund by the Huangpu River, and then venturing to the bustling Nanjing Road. Your guide will escort you to the airport and board your flight to your next destination, end of service.

1. The economy-class air charges of the domestic flight or soft sleeper/seat train charge between cities as specified in the itinerary.
2. The hotel accommodation is based on two persons sharing one standard twin room with private facilities in all relevant locations. If a single client requests a twin room alone, the single room supplement will be charged.
