Yunnan Province is in the southwest of China with the area of 394,000 squarekm and the population of 40 million people. It is well known for its pleasant climate, beautiful scenery and colorful ethnic customs. On its west and south,Yunnan respectively borders Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam with its borderlines of 4,060 kilometers. Lancang River is the important one among rivers.

Yunnan features long-standing history and culture. Going through Yunnan, the southern Silk Road linked China with her Southeast and South Asian neighbors.

Yunnan is well known for its magnificent landscapes and enchantingly natural scenes. At this

Yunnan shows colorful and unique ethnic folk customs.Inhabited by 26 ethnic nationalities, the Province is well known for its greatest number of ethnic groups in China. Apart from the Han nationality, there live 25 indigenous ethnic minorities, of which, 15 are the sole ones in China. In the long process of Historic evolution and through exchanging and blending their outstanding cultures, each of those ethnic nationalities has formed its specialized and colorful ethnic culture and art.

As China's important port leading to the Southeast Asian countries, Yunnan is attracting more and more tourists by its rich tourist resources, rationally deployed tour routes and daily-improving tourist facilities. The province is gradually establishing its image as a tourist rendezvous.
