The Great Wall Hotel (Changcheng binguan) is located about 1km from the railway station and 12km from the airport. This is definitely the most upmarket deal in town, constructed in 1990/91 in a kind of fort like style. It is on the edge of town, with some good views of the nearby Qilian mountains, and in easy reach of the Great Wall Museum.

A three star hotel, the Changcheng has a variety of services for those who need to be pampered. There are 150 guestrooms and 6 suites, all equipped with TVs, IDD telephones, air-conditioning, and 24 hour hot water. Out of room facilities are good for both work and pleasure. The business center provides typing, photocopying and FAX services, as well as access to variously sized meeting rooms and banquet hall. Recreational services are best, however, with a vast array including a bar, a coffee shop, a billiards room, a gymnasium, a sauna and massage center, a swimming pool, a beauty salon, a shopping arcade and a ticket reservation center.

The hotel's Chinese restaurant provides local specialties and good Chinese cuisine. There is also Western restaurant and a Muslim restaurant.
